Julien Gachadoat (v3ga) explore depuis plusieurs années les possibilités du dessin génératif en créant des œuvres uniques produites par algorithmes. Combinant des éléments géométriques monochromes et jouant sur les répétitions spatiales, il travaille sur l’émergence de formes abstraites en introduisant une part d’imprévisibilité à l’aide de séquences de nombres aléatoires.
Développant ses propres outils de création à partir de règles graphiques simples, Julien Gachadoat utilise l’ordinateur — « cet exécutant hors-pair » (Vera Molnár) — pour naviguer dans le champ des motifs possibles. Il fige en premier lieu ces formes uniques sur papier avec un traceur, créant ainsi un lien entre écriture et code. « Laisser une trace unique, physique et palpable de l'art, non pas en dépit du numérique mais grâce à lui »: telle est la philosophie de l’artiste bordelais. Il « réunit » ainsi sur papier l’ordinateur et le crayon, la rigueur du code informatique et la poésie de l’art, qui émeut par ses erreurs, ses irrégularités, sa part d’improbable.
Toujours en quête de nouvelles « rencontres » et formats, il développe de nouveaux projets dans le domaine du crypto-art, désireux de mettre ses œuvres en mouvement, et de poursuivre ses expérimentations dans un champ permettant lui aussi de valoriser de l’unicité de chaque création numérique, tout en dévoilant de nouveaux possibles.
En mai 2021, il est sélectionné par la plateforme ArtBlocks, présentant son premier projet avec eux en juillet de la même année. En Novembre 2021, Casey Reas l'invite pour participer à l’exposition —GRAPH sur la plateforme Feral File aux côtés d’autres artistes internationaux.
En 2022, il expose à Milan (Italie) à la galerie Cortesi et participe à l’hommage à Herbert W. Franke.
En 2023, le projet Structures mêlant NFTs et dessins au traceur est présenté sur la plateforme Plottables. Il expose à Londres à la galerie Verse pour le projet « Pathways ». En fin d’année, il participe de nouveau à l’exposition +GRAPH sur Feral File et a l’immense chance de rencontrer Vera Molnar.
Julien Gachadoat (aka v3ga) has been exploring generative drawing for many years. He grew up in the 90s amid the avant-garde demo scene, making visuals with code. Ever since, programming languages have been his creative tool.
Creating unique art with algorithms, he works with the emergence of abstract form. Combining monochrome, geometric shapes, he plays with repetition, using random operations to generate an element of surprise. Julien Gachadoat uses the computer - "this unique performer" (Vera Molnar) - to develop his own creative tools based on simple graphic rules, and then to explore the formal possibilities that ensue. By printing these unique pieces with a plotter, he creates a link between text and code, between computer and pencil, and between the rigour of code and the poetry of art. "To leave a unique mark, aesthetically palpable, that is not in defiance, but rather in aid of the digital": this is his philosophy.
Gachadoat has developed an international following through social media. Constantly looking to work with others in new ways, he has also created a series of silkscreen prints with Atelier SerreJoint in La Rochelle, as well as drawings with an industrial robot in collaboration with AATB studio, Marseille.
In 2021 he began to explore the field of crypto art, with a view to making moving images. His work was showcased on ArtBlocks in May 2021; in the -GRAPH exhibition, organised by Casey Reas on Feral File, in November 2021; and at the Cortesi gallery in Milan in 2022. In the same year, he participated in the tribute to Herbert W. Franke.
In 2023, Structures, which set NFTs alongside drawings, was presented on Plottables, while Pathways made its debut in London at Verse gallery. At the end of the year, as well as participating in the +GRAPH exhibition on Feral File, Gachadoat had the honour of meeting Vera Molnar — one of his great sources of inspiration - in person.
